Three blocks, not one big pile
BAMF groups the general questions into three areas: Democracy & Politics, History & Responsibility, and People & Society. Your actual test draws 30 questions from these three areas plus 3 questions specific to your state, for 33 in total. You need 17 correct to pass.

Good to know
- You won't get every topic on your paper. Questions are drawn at random, so a weak spot in one area can still cost you a pass if enough of your 30 questions land there.
- The federalism and judicial system topics trip people up most often. They're abstract compared to, say, family or religion, which most people already have some intuition for.
- You can drill any single topic above on this site's topic practice page, or take a mock exam once you've covered all three blocks.
